  1. Cold War in Water-Color

The tradition of illustrated cards did not stop at the literary style. Every country is proud of it's achievements and in the time of the Cold War - those achievements were largely military (on all sides of the planet) and occasionally scientific... but nothing stirs the patriotic blood like a picture of a well oiled rocket launcher.

One must not underestimate Russia's memory of the horrors of WWII and the feeling of throngs of veterans who took pride in their country's survival and resilience. Not to mention the sheer tenacity and perseverance. Such cards became welcome gifts to surviving family members who saw more in those pictures than naive propaganda. It was appreciation and a reminder of their courage.
